FOOD AND DRINKS

NUT BASED MILK: Wether for health or ethical reasons, dairy free milk is an amazing alternative to cow/goat milk. A lot of generic brands of nut milks contain gums, fillers and even carrageneans that can trigger gut issues like bloating, gas, abdominal pain, acne, or headaches and more. The presence of carrageneans in foods have even been linked to cancer. I find that making a switch to gum free nut milks makes my tummy happier and also tastes better as they are richer and creamier. These are my favorite brands at the moment, I'm loving almond, cashew and macadamia milk in my coffee and matcha.

- Om ADAPTOGENIC MUSHROOM POWDER:

Om has really done it's thing with mushrooms. Adaptogenic mushrooms are growing in popularity for being amazing for stress and mood support, as well as anything to do with BRAIN HEALTH! They stimulate focus, memory, and performance. And I can confirm that this powder has definitely done that for me! It makes me feel focused and energized without side effects of jitters, crashes or hunger changes that caffeine or medications can have. I almost feel relaxed but eased into my work or movement flow! 10/10 recommend adding into a cup of tea, coffee or making as a latte.

SUPPLEMENTS

Supplement protocols need to be catered to each unique individual to fill in the gaps that basic nutrition and lifestyle won't completely fulfill. I have some staples that majority of the population can benefit from and allows me to highlight BRANDS that I trust. Please remember most supplements are not regulated by the FDA, it's important to do your research on the brand and any ingredients they may be using even in their manufacturing process, and always prioritize nutrient intake from real Whole Foods first.

*Disclaimer that I am not a doctor and am not suggesting you use any product as a means to medicate without checking with a healthcare professionals. Supplements are not to be used in replacement of medications you may be taking nor as a means to treat and cure disease and can be either useless or harmful according to our bio-individual body*

VITAMIN D3+K: the average human needs at least 45 minutes of sunlight + proper nutrition to get enough vitamin D, about 42% of the world population is deficient in vitamin D. Lack of vitamin D causes weakness, loss of bone density that can lease to greater issues such as osteoporosis and athritis, dull skin, nausea, mood changes, poor appetite, constipation and digestive issues, depression, anxiety and ataxia- a neurological condition can causes stumbling and word slurring. In women, lack of vitamin D has been related to hormonal imbalances such as estrogen and progesterone imbalance and higher levels of cortisol as our body becomes less resistant to stress

MAGNESIUM: Around 80% of Americans do not meet the recommended intake of magnesium. Taking magnesium for me has helped a ton to improve my stress (physical and mental), sleep, and GUT HEALTH!

P.S. There are different types of magnesium; I use magnesium glycenate regularly for improved nervous system and recovery, but limit taking magnesium citrate only has a temporary and occasional constipation aid. Remember supplements should be a *supplementation* to good health not a BAND-AID for deeper issues!

This magnesium brand includes a blend of adaptogenic herbs that provide you with more nutrients and better absorption of the magnesium!

COLLAGEN POWDER: I recently introduced collagen powder into my diet again as I do not eat meat and therefore have a higher chance of being low in essential amino acids and collagen peptides need for my health! Collagen is a protein found in bones, muscles and blood that acts as the main "building block" for skin elasticity, hair, tendons, ligaments stretchiness, and of course the health of our muscles and bone density. Collagen is essentially what keeps our skin tight and plump. As the body ages production of collagen slows down and causes wrinkles and sagging, hair loss, and decreased bone density and elasticity of the ligaments and tendons, giving a less youthful look and body feeling! Although I do not consider collagen powder to be a replacement for my protein intake (consuming quality fish, plant protein and variety in my diet comes first), it does help to supplement with a QUALITY collagen powder. Not all collagen is the same and many can be a waste of money- this one is hydrolyzed meaning it was broken into smaller compounds easier to absorb, no added fillers oand the price for the quality and quantity is very reasonable (lasts me a couple months!). After only a couple weeks of daily dosing 2 scoops I've definitely noticed my skin is softer, more hydrated and plump!

BEAUTY, SKIN, BODY CARE

OLAPLEX HAIR PRODUCTS: I am on a journey to improve my curl pattern and clear my hair of all the color damage, product, and heat buildup. I got the Olaplex products that were recommended to me by my hairstylist and various girls and beauty consultants. All of their products are cruelty free and vegan friendly, and just high quality ingredients. I got the shampoo, conditioner and hair perfector mask. I use them 1-2 times a week, which for me is as often as I wash my hair, and saw a difference after the first wash!! My hair looks shinier and feels thicker and softer.

DRY BRUSH FOR LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE AND EXFOLIATION: Lymphatic drainage is KEY for reducing inflammation, puffiness, improving circulation, and encouraging the body in detoxifying and ridding bacteria and toxins that can end up in our lymphs (water system) and blood. I notice such a difference in my body when I consistently dry brush. Not only does it reduce inflammation and therefore leaves me feeling leaner and lighter, but also drastically improves the softness of my skin, and gives me a good energy boost and can help with stomach aches and bloating when done in circular motions on the stomach. I recommend using before or after the shower for best effects and always brushing from the extremities (wrists, ankles) towards your heart, from the heart center towards the lymph nodes at the neck, armpits, pelvis.

MISCELLAR WATER: using miscellar water to wash my face and body has saved me many times from dry skin, rashes, and breakouts. Miscellar water is known to promote skin hydration while cleansing, cleaning and removing dirt and impurities from the skin. This is because it contains an ingredient called glycerin which encourages the skin surface to retain moisture. I can always feel a difference, and love that it's way cheaper than fancy face washes or cleansers. I use a cotton pad to remove makeup and wash my face with it and then apply a serum and vitamin E oil. my skin has never been clearer and hydrated!

HOME

- SQUARED WINE GLASSES: The perfect way to elevate any drink. Honestly, drinking lemon water has never been so boujee.

- BUTTERFLY SHAPED ICE CUBES: If I'm going to make ice cubes in trays, they may as well be butterfly shaped. I'm all for finding ways to make drinking water and other drinks more fun! These are just so cute I take any excuse to use them, plus, they look good on my instagram, and I have no shame in doing that :)

- AIR PURIFIER: COVID, pollution, and increased time spent indoors during the winter months are all reasons to pay more attention to the AIR we are breathing in. Our lungs are one of our most vital organs. Moving from more rural areas to a city and going from a house to an apartment has woken me up to the importance of the quality of the air I breathe in. We tend to look at health as the food we eat, but air is our primary "ingestion" day and night.
